About The Scheme
This scheme has been created to provide LWC mentees with the opportunity to shadow members of the judiciary across England and Wales, offering a unique insight into the work of the courts and the role of judges. As an LWC mentee, this placement is designed to help you explore the legal profession, develop your understanding of the justice system and gain first-hand experience of judicial decision-making and courtroom practice. We hope this opportunity will support your personal and professional development, expand your network and inspire confidence as you progress in your legal career.
Scheme: two-day marshalling placements across England and Wales accompanied by a £50 bursary between November 2026 and February 2027.

Eligibility
To be eligible to apply for the LWC Marshalling Project, applicants must:

Be aged 18 or over at the time of application.

Be a current LWC mentee and have participated in one of LWC’s three mentee cohorts.

Be available to undertake a marshalling placement during the programme period of November 2026 to February 2027.

Be willing and able to comply with any requirements associated with the placement, including those relating to confidentiality, court security and professional conduct.

Meeting the above criteria does not guarantee a placement. The project can support up to 25 mentees.
